Great Dawley Remembers D-Day on the 80th Anniversary

Yesterday (6th June) Great Dawley Town Council, in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council and Telford Mind, took members of the Armed Forces community within Great Dawley on a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, to watch the memorial service for the D-Day 80th Anniversary.

Members of the Armed Forces Community including Veterans, reservists and serving personnel, were invited to join us on a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, to watch the D-Day 80th Anniversary Service. The day started with a 2 course meal at the NMA, where later on we had the opportunity to walk down to the The Naval Service Memorial to watch the service live, in person. Each person also received a pin badge to commemorate the 80th Anniversary.

This trip to the National Memorial Arboretum couldn’t have been possible with out the support and partnership work with Telford & Wrekin Council and Telford Mind.

We were also delighted to witness this humbling experience with the presence of dignitaries from across the country, including Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
