Thank you to our former Chair – Cllr Shaun Davies

At last nights Annual Council Meeting, Cllr Shaun Davies stepped down as Chair of the Council after 13 years in the role.
During his time as Chair, Cllr Davies oversaw a variety of projects and new events launched by Great Dawley Town Council, including the Malinslee Big Picnic and Malinslee Christmas Lights Switch-on.
As well as these events, Cllr Davies was also at the forefront of many regeneration projects across Great Dawley, including the recent upgrades of the play park at Malinslee Centre and Dawley Park.
Cllr Shaun Davies said:
“I’ve been a Town Councillor (For Great Dawley Town Council) for 17 years and for the last 13 years I’ve Chaired Great Dawley Town Council. I’ve loved every moment. Now is the time to step back.”
“Getting stuff done has been the mission; and we’ve done so much. Too often people don’t understand the importance and difference of parish and town councils, for me they are critical, and whatever comes next I’ll be a fan.”
Cllr Shaun Davies will remain as a Town Councillor on Malinlsee Ward.
One of the biggest projects overseen by Cllr Shaun Davies was the renovation and reopening of Dawley Town Hall back in 2013, in partnership with Great Dawley Town Council, Telford & Wrekin Council and Capgemini, along with a bank of volunteers who helped to bring the Town Hall back to community use. Last year, Cllr Davies welcomed HRH Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh to Dawley Town Hall, where in partnership with Great Dawley Town Council, Telford & Wrekin Council and Telford Mind, showcased the Veterans Calm Café.

All of us at Great Dawley Town Council would like to take this moment to thank the outgoing Chair for his continuous support, dedication and hard work that he has put in to the community of Great Dawley during his time as Chair.
