The Dawley and Malinslee Community Library has officially been relaunched with brand new facilities to cater for the community.

Councillors, Storytellers and Residents were invited to the re-launch event held at the Dawley & Malinslee Community Library on Thursday 2nd March, which saw a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a story read by local story teller, Mrs B.

The library, which Great Dawley Town Council took over of in 2017 is a fantastic community facility! Working in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council to upgrade systems to link the facilities to the Telford & Wrekin Library Services.

Borough Councillors for Dawley & Aqueduct Cllr’s Ian Preece, Andy Burford and Bob Wennington have helped to fund the installation of brand-new computers, printing facilities and a new first point free phone service through their Councillor Pride Funding.

Councillor Lyndsey Parker from Great Dawley Town Council said:

“Libraries today are much more than a place to find and read a book. They are a place where people can have a quiet spot for studying, apply for new jobs with the help of computers, enquire about council-related services with our freephone, and also ask for information from our library volunteers”.

“I am so pleased to see funding has been put through by our Borough Councillors to help this essential service for our Town.”

The Dawley and Malinslee Community Library is based next door to Dawley House, Burton Street, and the opening hours are as follows:

  • Mon: 9:00 – 13:00
  • Tue: 12:00 – 16:00
  • Wed: Closed
  • Thu: 12:00 – 16:00
