New Defib for Local Dawley School

Last week (22nd July) , Borough Councillors Cllr Ian Preece, Cllr Andy Burford and Cllr Bob Wennington went to visit Southall School to see their brand new defibrillator.
The defibrillator is located next to the school gates and is available for the community to use in the event of an emergency.
Back in the autumn, the headmistress Mrs Martin, gave a group of student’s class F/B a challenge, to raise money for a defibrillator so that the community and other students in the school would have access to and benefit from it.
During their Christmas Fayre, the school asked if all the proceeds raised from their products could go towards the defib.
The schools P.T.A kick-started the challenge by donating £200. Students also donated from their pocket money which really touched the school because most have so little themselves.

Overall, the school managed to raise £950. Borough councillors also contributed to this through the “Councillor Pride Fund”, which was matched by Great Dawley Town Council.
During the visit, the borough councillors were given a tour of the school grounds to take a look at their amazing outdoor learning areas.
