Great Dawley Town Council was formed in 1988 and is the parish authority for Dawley and Malinslee, with a population of approximately 12,000 and an electorate of 8232. We gained Quality Parish Council Status in 2005 and we were instrumental in forming the Dawley Regeneration partnership, striving to make the area a better place in which to live and work.
Over the last few years we have been able to make improvements in the local area with funding from the Town Council as well as funding and grants from a number of partners and organisations including Telford & Wrekin Council.
Listed below are a few of the hot spots that have been refurbished with this help.
We are continuing this kind of work in improving our local green spaces and play areas as well as access to support services. Find out what we've been up to!
Alongside the obvious weekly Dawley Market, Dawley Dinners & Jam-packed Community Events Calendar that we are well known for, Great Dawley Town Council also have a number of services to keep Great Dawley 'blooming', looking tidy, feeling supported and remaining safe. Here are just a few!
- Dawley & Malinslee Community Library
- High Street Hanging Baskets & Planters
- Dawley Park Bedding Plants
- Christmas Decorations
- Public Toilet
- Regular meetings & service with ICM (Integrated Community Management) to help support the security & safety of our parish area
All this of course would not be possible without the guidance of our Ward Councillors. Great Dawley Town Council is divided into two wards, covering Dawley and Malinslee. We have a total of 14 elected Councillors divided equally between the two wards. The last local election took place in May 2019 and regular Council Meetings take place across the year.
