Telford & Wrekin are planning to reintroduce the Wrekin Rider community bus service and Dial A Ride from Monday. Routes have been revised in line with government guidelines. To maintain social distancing and traceability they are introducing a booking system.
Journeys will be limited to 3 per week to ensure everyone has an opportunity to use the service. Bookings can be made by phoning 01952 388000. Lines will be open daily from 10am to midday. Bookings can be made a maximum of one week in advance, Bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis subject to the 3 journey limit.

The resource is aimed at parents and carers for supporting children and young people with sleep, but they hope this will be useful to all. They have drawn information from various places – the guide includes information, ideas, strategies as well as places to get more information. Sleep is a HUGE topic and they have tried to include as much detail as they can.

Telford & Wrekin Council are supporting the Keep Britain Tidy campaign to call on everyone to do their bit to help keep parks and green spaces clean by taking their litter home with them and put it in their own bin.
Local parks have been a lifeline for many people over the past two months, but as people are able to spend more time enjoying the open spaces, there is a real risk they will turn into rubbish dumps.
This is why Keep Britain Tidy is asking everyone to do their bit and to help ease the pressure on local councils, which are still facing immense challenges. The idverde crews are out litter picking and emptying bins more often now the weather is warmer (we have 2,500 litter bins), and Street Champions and friends groups are also helping, but we need people to do their bit more than ever.

The Armed Forces Covenant Project at Citizens Advice Telford & the Wrekin celebrates Armed Forces Week during COVID-19.
Citizens Advice Telford & the Wrekin has joined the Armed Forces Covenant to help ensure local Veterans, serving personnel and their families could access support they need. The charity strategized with other organisations and current and previous members of the Armed Forces to plan and deliver a weekly information hub.
Citizens Advice Telford & the Wrekin is committed and recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to their business. They seek to uphold the principles and ethos of the Armed Forces Covenant by embedding them within the Citizens Advice Service across Telford & Wrekin. Advisors are made aware of the additional needs that anyone with a current or historical link to the Armed Forces may have and maximise the use of existing Armed Forces specific resources (charities, national help lines etc) that provide service and support over and above that available to the general population
The charity is dedicated to promoting and raising awareness that they are an armed forces-friendly organisation to ensure Veterans and their families of the help Citizens Advice can offer, including volunteering opportunities.
Due to social distancing measures imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the AFC Hub happens virtually every Tuesday from 11am lasting 1-2 hours and available on the Zoom platform. Those interested can register via Eventbrite or look on the charity’s Twitter; @TelfordCAB to get the link.
Valerie Graham the Project lead said “Everyone is welcome to join, so get a cup coffee and join, we would be delighted to see you. Each week is different there will be presentations from various speakers on topics armed forces community find interesting and relevant for them.
We endeavour to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which are:
• No member of the Armed Forces Covenant should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other Citizen
• In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved. As the COVID-19 pandemic meant we could not deliver a face to face service therefore, we turned to social media, e-mail and a phone service.

Dawley Day is a popular community event hosted annually by Great Dawley Town Council and although we could not host the date as we normally would, we held a 'Virtual Dawley Day' on Saturday 20th June 2020.
The musicians that were due to play on stage instead provided a short video performance for us pop on our Facebook Page for the day. We would like to say a big thank you to all them, performing from their homes for you to enjoy from the safety of yours.
Market traders and local businesses also took part in the online celebration, recognising Great Dawley as a great community to be part of. They joined in with the #proudofdawley video montage with Councillors and staff, so a big thanks to them and also to the community for continuing to support us during these times.

In line with other services, local charity Citizens Advice Telford and the Wrekin will continue to do most of its work online, by email and via the telephone. When lock-down started the charity quickly put more phonelines in place and an email service, staffed by dedicated volunteers and advice staff working from home. Knowing not everyone can access information and advice via a computer or phone, people with emergencies will be able to get more help from Monday 22nd June.
Citizens Advice Telford & the Wrekin’s CEO Caro Hart explained, “We know that not everyone can access help using technology and so from Monday people in an emergency can contact us, or get help from someone else to contact us, to make an appointment to come in to our offices at Tan Bank in Wellington. We can then put them in front of a computer and a phone so that they can talk to one of our advisers about their problem. In an emergency situation we can also help people needing a food parcel or other practical support. At present we don’t know when we will be returning to a drop-in service at Tan Bank or our community outreach services, but we will be putting regular updates on our website www.citizensadvicetelfordandthewrekin.org.uk. The organisation has full safety arrangements in place; with social distancing, hand sanitising facilities and regular cleaning to keep both staff and clients safe.
The charity is anticipating a “tsunami” of problems when lock-down ends as people need to resume payments after payment holidays, or lose their jobs as businesses go under. The biggest areas of work are debts and benefits and they have specialist advisers who can help with these problems. The service is free, confidential, impartial and independent.
