Great Dawley Town Council works with Telford & Wrekin Council and other partners to provide extra services for our community, for example, environmental projects including maintenance and improvements to our green spaces. We are working on a number of different exciting projects at the moment please see below to see what we're up to.
Renovation of 3-4 New Street and Creation of Community Room
Great Dawley Town Council are working on the ongoing project of renovating 3-4 New Street to bring it back into community use. The roof has been repaired and the windows have been replaced but the building still needs work to make it a functioning building.
As part of the £75,000 Veolia Grant 3-4 New Street will see the creation of a community meeting room at the front of the building, this will then be available for community use for the benefit of the local community.
Also as part of the £75,000 Veolia Grant, Great Dawley Town Council is working of the delivery of the installation of creating a link between Dawley Town Hall and 3-4 New Street.
Dawley Town Hall Community Garden
As part of the Telford and Wrekin Council - Telford @ 50 Legacy Grant, Great Dawley Town Council are working on a project to make improvements to the Community Garden at Dawley Town Hall.
The improvements include making the area more accessible for wheelchair users by creating a paved area around the raised beds and to upgrade the raised beds and improve the drainage within them.
St Leonards Field
As part of the Telford and Wrekin Council - Telford @ 50 Legacy Grant, Great Dawley Town Council are working on a project in partnership with Ideverde to make improvements to St Leonards Field, Malinslee. The improvements will include the cleaning and repainting of the youth shelter, repainting of street furniture, removal of redundant street furniture and the creation of wet and wild meadows.
